Welcome to Foxford

Where traditional Irish craftsmanship meets contemporary creativity

Established to serve the village of Foxford over a century ago, our mill sits on the banks of the River Moy in rural County Mayo, Ireland. In collaboration with our community and creative partners, we have been manufacturing the finest wool throws and blankets for over 130 years, as well as sourcing the highest quality bed linen, homeware and clothing from suppliers and designers we are proud to support.

Our People

From design to warp to loom, the people of FOXFORD are all connected by a commitment to good design and a love for the local community. We employ over 70 people in our mill and shops — the majority of whom are based in the surrounding area — as well as working with an extensive network of creatives, designers and small businesses far and wide.

Made in Foxford

Over a century ago, Mother Agnes, the founder of our mill, stood on a bridge in Foxford and contemplated a future with community and craftsmanship at its core. Foxford Woollen Mill, as it was then known, was established in 1892 as a means of improving people’s livelihoods and has supported the local area ever since.

Our Yarns

From the very beginning, our throws, blankets and scarves have been woven at our mill using the finest wools — from traditional lambswool and merino to luxurious mohair and cashmere. We mainly work with four varieties of yarn from Australia and New Zealand, which are then spun by specialists in the UK & Ireland. A tight-knit supply chain that we’re incredibly proud of.

Visit Us

We welcome visitors to our mill, cafe and shops throughout the year and, in particular, are thrilled to be able to share the heritage of our mill with customers from all over the world. The FOXFORD Experience is a unique opportunity to learn about the history of our brand and products, and see first-hand how our throws and blankets are made.
