Our mill tours are not running at present. We hope to recommence the soon.
We are proud to run daily tours through our mill. You can come as a large group or potter in on a free hour and allow our tour guides to weave you through over 129 years of innovation, forward thinking, manufacturing and craftsmanship. On our tour, you will be brought back over a century to a very different town to the one you entered today.
Foxford Woollen Mills was founded in 1892 by an Irish nun, called Sister Agnes Morrogh-Bernard who was a member of the Irish Sisters Of Charity. Sister Agnes came to Foxford with the hope of creating employment in the area, which was exteremly poor at the time.
Our tour guide will take you on an intriguing tale woven in the west of Ireland. See the mill as it’s run today, where master craftspeople are creating contemporary designs that we’re proud to deliver all over the world. explore the history of Foxford Woollen Mills and learn about techniques that have been passed down through generations.
Our tour is interactive, you can hear, see and smell the looms! The first half is in our seated tour area where you can touch the type of wool we use, see the final product, listen to the story of Foxford by our guides and watch our interactive video.
We then open our doors to the heart of the mill, the looms. It can be quite loud, but don’t worry, we provide ear protection.
The tour takes approximately 35 minutes and once you are finished you are welcome to ask some questions, take a browse through our shop and relax in our café!
Our normal schedule of tours has not yet resumed for 2021. However if you wish to book a mill experience please contact us via the above methods and we will see how we can best accommodate you.
We are open for bookings next year 2022.
