Foxford is a contemporary, Irish, lifestyle brand best known for weaving luxurious woollen throws and accessories at Foxford Woollen Mills which has been in operation since 1892. The Foxford Café opened at the mill in Co Mayo over ten years ago. The café has always offered the very best of local produce and quality seasonal ingredients, all home made on site and the café business has grown steadily over the years. During 2019 Foxford Café received a facelift which aligns it even more to the contemporary lifestyle Foxford brand while still acknowledging the heritage of the mill.
Foxford Café offers several vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices and caters for all dietary requirements both on our daily menu and in our retail food section.
The well-lit counter area showcases the food offerings and entices customers to select from the variety on offer. The stylish comfortable seating area at Foxford Café has been expanded to now cater for up to 160 people. Bright airy spaces such as the conservatory, the library and the manager’s office are ideal for groups of various sizes to gather for all kinds of occasions, family reunions, birthday celebrations, business meetings, working lunches or just catching up with friends. While relaxing in the café the noise you hear is the sound of the looms working in the Mill on the ground floor and the café walls are adorned with the history of the mill from its foundress and key figures in the success of the mill to the original maps and plans for the building and old photographs which tell the story of the rich heritage of the mill and its importance to the town of Foxford. The space is also family friendly with toys and books to keep little ones entertained.
Given its location Foxford Café is an ideal resting place for cyclists and walkers as they explore the Mayo countryside and a short stop off the Wild Atlantic Way for both domestic and international tourists.
Customers can choose to take home a taste of Foxford as the food retail area includes a range of homemade jams, chutneys and dressings as well as carefully chosen speciality foods and cooking utensils. A handpicked selection of cookery books and food related publications to browse and buy makes an inspirational ‘foodie’ purchase.
There is ample parking for cars and coaches, with designated disabled parking spaces closest to the entrance. The café on the first floor is accessible to all due to the provision of a lift which has capacity for wheelchairs or buggys. Free wifi and charging points allow customers to browse the internet or work while they eat. Baby changing facilities are also provided.
