Foxford Michael Collins Throw
Description
In July 1922, a specially commissioned FOXFORD travel blanket was presented to General Michael Collins to mark his appointment to Commander-in-chief of the newly established Irish Army. In August of the same year, his armoured car was ambushed at Béal Na Bláth and he was killed. The blanket, which had been in the car with him, was recovered at Shanakiel Hospital by Nurse Nora O’Donaghue and later donated to the National Museum.
We are proud to have reproduced this historic throw in conjunction with Michael Collins House, Clonakilty, County Cork. Woven in our traditional FOXFORD check, using a vintage 4-ply yarn in olive, gold and white, this warm, durable throw features a bespoke Michael Collins House label and is finished with a traditional roll fringe.
